Dr. Jill’s Commentary
Ready to get muddy??? This is the most fun way to get down ‘n dirty with detox!
Peloid therapy (which is just a fancy way to say mud bath) is one of those therapies that seems too easy. It’s relaxing, pain relieving, and detoxifying – just by sitting in dirty water. Don’t have a bath tub? No problem. Schmear it on, wrap up, kick back, relax, and then shower off when ready. Or if you’re super sensitive, start with 1 ounce in a foot bath. There are plenty of ways to use this amazing therapy – get creative. When recovering from mold, a weekly mud cleanse can really take the heat off your other detox systems.
Using mud plasters and soaks to improve health goes back eons, and continues as a well-established healing art that’s alive and well in peaty regions in Europe today.
This ain’t your grandmother’s mud! (unless of course she’s of Czech descent – then likely it is. ;))
This mud is therapeutic quality peat. It’s the result of natural organic decomposition of multitudes of plants, and is harvested under special conditions.
Over a period of thousands of years, this residue percolates and transforms into a fine paste that easily dissolves in water. It has an unusually high concentration of bio-minerals, trace elements, vitamins, amino acids, plant hormones and fatty acids in a molecular form that is easy for the human skin to absorb.
Peloid moor mud takes away the yuck, and gives the yums – meaning, it detoxifies impurites at the same time as it’s giving us nutrients – right through our skin. And one of the things I love most is that it’s not another pill I’m asking my patients to swallow.
So for the love of mud, get detoxing!
